Born in 1986 in a small town in West of France, Adrien, also known as Satan Sanctus, moved to Paris to study graphic design, communication, and multimedia at the École Estienne and then at La Sorbonne. He has since worked as a digital Art Director. He now resides in Nantes.
His childhood, marked by violence and shaped by metal music, has deeply influenced his artistic work. Largely inspired by occult imagery, alternative culture, and the macabre, Adrien draws from these worlds a taste for transgression, particularly of religious themes. He also incorporates various influences ranging from anatomy manuals to Japanese folklore.
Throughout his travels, he collects numerous reproductions of works, primarily from 15th-century classical art, on which he draws with markers and paint to distort, transgress, and give them new meaning, creating new scenes that blend the sacred and the profane.
Occasionally, he trades his pencils for a stylus to create short animations by drawing frame by frame.
Adrien also nurtures his fascination with churches and religious art through his analog photography project Church Cult and Macabre where he draws part of his inspiration and explores a gentler side of his personality.
